PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Bachelor of Science in Biology is a four-year program that provides its students the opportunity to integrate, interpret, and translate biological phenomena through scientific observations and environmental observations, and use this information to make meaningful decisions, with emphasis on its applications in the environment, medical field, and the industry.

The BS Biology program has three majors / specializations: (1) Medical Biology, (2) Industrial Biology, and (3) Environmental Biology.

The Industrial Biology curriculum provides a firm background in biology with emphasis on various molecular approaches in understanding biological phenomena, of culturing organisms for various industrial, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological uses, and of applying these in agriculture, industry, and the environment.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) is a four-year program that prepares students in the development, deployment, and management of information resources in print, non-print, electronic, and digital formats. The program trains students to apply information technology to basic library operations and functions; to systematically organize, conserve, and preserve information objects, historical and cultural documents, and other intellectual properties; and to harness bibliographical and online tools to support teaching, research and other services. The program culminates with a one-year practicum/on-the-job training (OJT) at the University of Santo Tomas Miguel de Benavides Library and in libraries and information centers both in public and private sectors outside the University.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Applied Physics is the application of all branches of physics to the broad realm of practical problems in engineering, science and industry.  This BS Applied Physics program blends the concrete and the abstract aspects of physics. It provides the students with an opportunity to acquire abilities for continued advancement in technology from fundamental principles in physics.  This also promotes the development of strong analytical skills as well as experimental capability through its upper core programs. The instrumentation specialty involves training in design and utilization of scientific instruments.
