PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND) is a four-year program that develops students to be globally competitive professionals, with relevant competencies in three areas of nutrition: hospital, community, and food service, integrating academic and clinical knowledge and skills through excellence in teaching and the development of proper values and attitudes, in the exercise of the profession to answer the changing needs of the society. The program is also a good preparation for medicine, because of the inclusions of clinical nutrition and hospital practicum.

PROGRAM RECOGNITIONS

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This four-year program with two (2) summer terms consists of general education and professional courses with related learning experiences as mandated by the Commission on Higher Education in its Memorandum CMO No. 14. The program provides an intensive nursing practicum in the form of related learning experiences that will refine the clinical skills from first year level to ensure basic clinical competencies required of a beginning nurse practitioner. These competencies are obtained under proper supervision and guidance of clinical instructors with the cooperation of Nursing Service Staff of the basic and special areas of the University of Santo Tomas Hospital. Nursing in specialty areas is being supplemented by affiliation with hospitals and health centers under the Department of Health and the communities adopted by the University in close coordination with the barangay.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology is a four-year program in the field of health sciences dealing with the study of human communications, its development, and the functional and organic disorders that may affect it.  It culminates in a one-year internship program that prepares speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.  Additionally, the program prepares SLPs to provide aural rehabilitation for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder or progressive neurological disorders.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

  1. Speech-language pathologist clinician or consultant in diverse facility- and community-based practice settings such as hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, community centers, skilled nursing facilities, home health care, school systems, early intervention programs, industry and private enterprises.
  2. Educator and researcher in the academe

  4. Consultant in government/non-government agencies advising in the areas of health promotion, disability prevention/management, advocacy and establishing grassroots network.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy is a four-year program that produces professionals who promote optimal health and function by providing services that develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability for people whose movement and function are threatened by ageing, injury, diseases, disorders, conditions or environmental factors. The program culminates in a one-year comprehensive internship program that allows students, while supervised by a licensed professionals, to work within the health spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation and rehabilitation with the goal of helping people maximize their quality of life.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

  1. Physical therapy clinician in various settings such as hospitals, out-patient physical therapy clinics, private practice, home health care services, athletic and sports training facilities, skilled nursing facilities, hospices, corporate and industrial settings
